The basics

What are crowns & prosthetics?

Prosthetic dentistry rebuilds teeth that are broken, heavily decayed or missing. A crown caps and protects a damaged tooth; an inlay or onlay restores part of a tooth while preserving more natural structure; dentures replace several or all missing teeth removably.

At Baro Dental we favour metal-free, tooth-coloured materials — zirconia crowns and E-max inlays — for strength and a natural look, and we always aim to preserve as much of your own tooth as possible.

Save the tooth where we can. A partial restoration (inlay/onlay) is often healthier than a full crown, and for a missing tooth an implant may beat a bridge because it doesn't touch the neighbours. We recommend the option that's best for your tooth, not the biggest procedure.
Our approach

Natural-looking, built to last

A good restoration should fit precisely, look natural and protect the tooth for years. Here's how we get there.

Digital scanning & fit

A Trios intraoral scan captures your tooth precisely for a crown or inlay that fits well — no messy impression trays.

Metal-free materials

We favour zirconia crowns and E-max inlays for strength and a natural appearance, rather than dated metal-fused options.

Tooth-preserving first

We choose the least invasive restoration that will last — often an inlay/onlay over a full crown, and honest advice on bridge vs implant.

Materials

Strong, natural, metal-free

The material matters as much as the fit. We use modern, tooth-coloured materials suited to each restoration.

Zirconia crowns

Exceptionally strong and tooth-coloured, zirconia is our go-to for crowns and bridges — durable enough for back teeth and natural enough for the smile zone, with no dark metal line at the gum.

  • Metal-free & biocompatible
  • High strength for molars
  • Natural translucency

E-max inlays & onlays

For a tooth that's damaged but not enough to need a full crown, an E-max (lithium disilicate) inlay or onlay restores it precisely while preserving more of your natural tooth — a conservative, long-lasting choice.

  • Preserves more natural tooth
  • Excellent fit & aesthetics
  • Ideal for cracked or decayed molars

How much does a zirconia crown cost in Busan?

At Baro Dental a zirconia crown is ₩400,000 for a back tooth and ₩450,000 for a front tooth — published prices, the same for foreign and Korean patients. PFM is ₩450,000 and gold ₩800,000. An E-max ceramic inlay/onlay is ₩300,000 (currently ₩250,000), and a temporary crown while yours is made is ₩100,000.

Why are dental crowns cheaper in Korea?

The crown you receive is milled from the same zirconia blocks used worldwide — Korea's difference is scale: in-house digital workflows, local milling and published fee competition. At ₩400,000–450,000, a single trip for several crowns often costs less than one crown at home, before flights.

How many days do I need in Busan for a crown?

Typically two visits within one trip: preparation and TRIOS digital scan on day one, fitting once your crown is milled. We schedule the lab work around your travel dates and check the bite before you fly — and if anything needs adjusting later, we review photos on WhatsApp first.

When is a crown the wrong answer?

When less would do — a moderate cavity is often better served by an inlay that keeps more of your tooth, and a badly infected tooth needs root canal treatment first, not a cap over trouble. And when a tooth truly can’t be saved, an honest plan compares a bridge against an implant rather than defaulting to grinding down healthy neighbours.

Real combined cases

Prosthetics planned with the whole mouth in mind.

When teeth have drifted or tilted, a crown alone can’t restore the bite — these cases from our record combined orthodontics with prosthetic restoration, in one clinic, under one plan.

An honest read

What we restore — and what we won’t rush.

Prosthetics is the right answer when…

  • a tooth is cracked, heavily filled or worn past what a filling can hold — a crown protects what remains
  • an old PFM or discoloured crown needs replacing — zirconia at ₩400,000–450,000, matched to your shade
  • a root-canal-treated tooth needs a core and crown to survive chewing forces
  • a moderate cavity fits an E-max inlay — more conservative than a crown, ₩300,000
  • missing teeth call for a bridge or denture — planned against the implant alternative, openly

We’ll slow you down when…

  • infection is active — root canal treatment comes before any crown, or you cap a problem in place
  • gums are inflamed — margins placed on unhealthy gums fail early, so gum care comes first
  • you want whiter front teeth — whitening happens before crown shade-matching, because zirconia doesn’t bleach later
  • an inlay would save more tooth than the crown you asked for — we recommend the smaller, cheaper restoration

Common questions

Crowns & prosthetics FAQ

It depends on how much of the tooth is damaged. If a large portion is broken or decayed, a crown caps and protects the whole tooth. If the damage is more contained, an inlay or onlay restores just that part and preserves more of your natural tooth — usually the healthier choice when it's possible. We confirm which suits your tooth after an assessment.

We favour metal-free zirconia for crowns and bridges — it's strong enough for back teeth, natural-looking enough for the smile zone, and avoids the dark line metal-fused crowns can show at the gum. For inlays and onlays we use E-max. We'll recommend the best material for the specific tooth.

Both replace a missing tooth. A bridge is fixed and quicker but requires crowning the healthy teeth on either side of the gap. An implant stands on its own and doesn't touch the neighbours, so it's often the healthier long-term option — though it takes longer. We'll compare both honestly for your case; see our dental implants too.

A well-made zirconia crown can last many years — often a decade or much more — with good oral hygiene and regular check-ups. Longevity depends on the health of the underlying tooth and gum, your bite, and habits like grinding. We build restorations to last and advise on protecting them.

Often a single crown or inlay can be prepared and fitted within one short stay, especially with digital planning. More complex cases — several teeth, or a crown that needs a post-and-core build-up or root treatment first — may need a little more time. Tell us your dates on WhatsApp and we'll map it out.

We offer removable dentures to replace several or all missing teeth. Because denture coverage differs for patients without Korean national health insurance, we confirm your exact options and pricing at consultation. Implant-supported solutions are also available if you'd prefer something more stable — see our implants page.

An E-max inlay/onlay is ₩300,000 (event ₩250,000), and a post-and-core build-up is ₩50,000–100,000. Zirconia crowns and dentures are quoted after an assessment since they depend on the tooth and case. Send photos and any X-rays on WhatsApp for a written KRW estimate before you travel, with no hidden add-ons.

It can. Zirconia itself is very strong, but heavy grinding stresses the cement joint and the opposing teeth. If we see wear patterns at your exam, we'll recommend a night guard (₩300,000) to protect the investment — and we'll tell you honestly if grinding, not the crown, is the problem to treat first.
