Orthodontic braces treatment at Baro Dental Clinic, Busan Seomyeon
The basics

What is orthodontics?

Orthodontics straightens teeth and corrects the bite using fixed braces — small brackets bonded to the teeth and connected by a wire that guides them into position over time. It's the most versatile way to treat crowding, spacing, protrusion and bite problems.

We offer standard metal braces and Clippy self-ligating braces — Clippy-C in tooth-coloured ceramic and Clippy-M in metal — planned by an orthodontics specialist. For more complex movements, braces achieve results that removable aligners can't — while clear aligners remain a great discreet option for milder cases.

Braces or aligners? Braces handle the widest range of cases, including complex bite correction; clear aligners suit milder, more cosmetic needs. We recommend the one that genuinely fits your case — see our clear aligners too.
Why it matters who plans it

Orthodontics led by a specialist

Braces move teeth over months or years — the diagnosis and plan behind them are what determine your final result.

Orthodontics-focused director

Your treatment is led by a director with a Master's in Orthodontics and advanced self-ligating training (Korea Damon Master Course) — years of dedicated braces experience.

Clippy self-ligating option

We use the Clippy self-ligating system — Clippy-C in ceramic, Clippy-M in metal. The built-in clip holds the wire without elastic ties, which can mean fewer adjustments and a comfortable, efficient path for suitable cases.

Children to adults

From growth-stage guidance for kids to full correction for adults — the right timing and approach for each age, explained clearly in English.

Choosing your braces

Which braces are right for you?

Three main choices, each with a different balance of appearance, speed and cost. Your specialist recommends the best fit.

Metal (Standard & Clippy-M)

The most effective and affordable, suited to the widest range of cases. Standard metal for direct-ligation, or Clippy-M self-ligating for fewer adjustments and good efficiency.

Ceramic (Clippy-C)

Tooth-coloured Clippy-C self-ligating brackets — far less noticeable than metal and efficient, a popular choice for adults who want discretion.

Partial

Braces on just the front teeth for minor corrections — shorter treatment time and a lower cost when full braces aren't needed.

How much do braces cost in Busan?

At Baro Dental, metal braces cost ₩4,300,000, self-ligating Damon metal ₩5,100,000, and self-ligating ceramic ₩5,300,000 — full-course, published prices. A partial front-teeth correction is ₩2,500,000 when only a small area needs work. The ₩100,000 diagnosis fee is deducted if you proceed, and foreign patients pay the same list as Korean patients.

How long does orthodontic treatment take?

Partial corrections of the front teeth can finish in a matter of months; comprehensive treatment for crowding, protrusion or bite problems typically takes longer, depending on how far teeth must move. Your diagnosis fixes the plan and a realistic timeline before you commit — and adjustment visits can be scheduled around travel.

Am I too old for braces?

No. Healthy teeth move at any age — what matters is gum and bone condition, which we check first. Many of our orthodontic patients are working adults; if visibility is the concern, ceramic braces or clear aligners keep treatment discreet at work. Where age changes the plan, we tell you exactly how, honestly.

Braces or clear aligners — how do I choose?

Braces handle large or complex tooth movements more predictably; aligners win on invisibility and fewer clinic visits — useful if you live abroad. Cost overlaps: braces ₩4,300,000–5,300,000, Cerafin aligners ₩3,000,000–6,000,000. Your diagnosis decides which is honest to recommend; where both would work, we quote both.

An honest read

What braces fix — and what they can’t.

Orthodontics is the right tool when…

  • teeth are crowded, rotated, tilted or spaced — braces move teeth, and they do it predictably
  • a bite problem comes from tooth position, including camouflage-treatable crossbite
  • a tipped molar needs up-righting before an implant or bridge — sectional orthodontics makes the space restorable
  • a child’s growth stage allows guidance — RPE expansion from ₩300,000, timed to development

We’ll tell you plainly when…

  • a jaw-position problem is skeletal — camouflage has limits, and surgical correction cases deserve a straight answer, not an oversold plan
  • gum disease or decay is active — that comes first, at published prices, or tooth movement does harm
  • a partial course can’t deliver what you want — we won’t sell a ₩2,500,000 shortcut that needs redoing
  • retention matters more than you expect — teeth drift back without retainers, so the plan includes them from day one

Common questions

Orthodontics FAQ

Most orthodontic treatment takes about 18 months to 2–3 years, depending on the complexity of your case and the movement required. Partial (front-teeth-only) cases can be much shorter. After your diagnosis we give you a realistic timeline and schedule adjustments around your travel where possible.

Both work the same way; the difference is appearance and cost. Metal braces are the most affordable and effective across the widest range of cases. Ceramic braces use tooth-coloured brackets that blend in far more, at a higher cost. Your specialist helps you choose based on your case, your look and your budget.

Self-ligating braces hold the wire with a built-in clip instead of elastic ties, which for suitable cases can mean less friction, fewer adjustment visits and good efficiency. We use the Clippy system — Clippy-C in tooth-coloured ceramic and Clippy-M in metal — and our director has advanced self-ligating training (Korea Damon Master Course).

It depends on your case. Braces handle the widest range, including complex bite and jaw-relationship correction. Clear aligners are excellent for milder crowding or spacing and for anyone wanting a discreet, removable option. We give you an honest recommendation rather than pushing one over the other — see our clear aligners too.

It varies. Some issues are best watched and treated during growth, while others wait until more adult teeth are in. A specialist assessment identifies the right timing for your child — sometimes early guidance simplifies later treatment, and sometimes it's best to wait. Message us your child's age and we'll advise.

Absolutely — many of our orthodontic patients are adults, and there's no upper age limit for healthy teeth and gums. You'll feel mild pressure or tenderness for a few days after fitting and adjustments, which settles quickly. Ceramic braces and clear aligners are popular discreet options for adults.

Orthodontic fees depend a lot on the braces type and how much movement your case needs, so we quote after your diagnosis rather than guess. A ₩100,000 diagnosis fee covers your records and plan and is deducted from the treatment cost if you proceed. You'll get a clear written quote with no hidden add-ons.

Yes — teeth drift back without one, and skipping retention is the most common reason orthodontic results are lost. We include the retention plan from the start: clear retainers are ₩100,000 per arch and fixed retainers ₩150,000 per arch, with maintenance free within the first year.
